Field Customization
TimeWrit allows you to customize how data is categorized and displayed through Tags and Stories. These tools help you organize complex research into manageable themes and narratives.
## Tags
**Tags** are lightweight labels used for broad categorization (e.g., "Military", "Political", "Genealogy").
### Managing Tags
You can manage your collection of tags in the **Tags** list view. Each tag can have a custom color, which is used to highlight associations throughout the application.

### Creating/Editing a Tag
- **Name**: A descriptive label for the category.
- **Color**: A Hex color code (e.g., `#3B82F6`) or a CSS/Tailwind class. This color will be used for visual cues on the timeline and map.
- **Research Notes**: Internal-only notes about why this tag was created or how it should be used.

## Stories
**Stories** are used to group related events into a cohesive narrative sequence. Unlike Tags, Stories are often used for presentation, allowing you to highlight specific "pathways" through time.
### Managing Stories
The **Stories** list view provides an overview of all narrative threads in your collection.

### Creating/Editing a Story
- **Title & Description**: Define the narrative scope of the story.
- **Color**: Set a distinctive color for the story's visual representation.
- **Tags**: You can associate tags with stories to further categorize your narratives.

> [!TIP]
> **Visual Organization**: Use vibrant, high-contrast colors for Tags and Stories. This makes it easier to spot related items when viewing large, complex timelines or dense geographical maps.
> [!IMPORTANT]
> **Ordering Events**: When adding events to a Story, you can use the **Sequence** field to manually override the chronological order. This is vital for maintaining a narrative flow when multiple events occur on the same day.
