Locations & Mapping
History doesn't just happen in a time; it happens in a place. TimeWrit's Location system handles the complexities of geography over time.
### Historical Aliases
Borders move and names change. TimeWrit allows you to define **Aliases** with date ranges.
- *Example*: A location might be "Konigsberg" until 1946, and "Kaliningrad" thereafter.
- When an event occurs, TimeWrit automatically displays the name that was correct for that specific date.

> **Geocoding**: Ensure your locations have GPS coordinates to unlock the **Map View** in the main timeline.
> [!TIP]
> **Location Hierarchy**: Organize locations geographically (e.g., "USA > Arizona > Cochise County > Tombstone"). Events linked to "Tombstone" will automatically appear when you filter for any of the parent locations.
