People & Family Trees
Organize your research around the actors of history. TimeWrit's People system automatically builds interactive lineage charts based on the relationships you define.
### Defining Relationships
Link two people using relationship types like **Parent/Child** or **Spouse**.
> [!TIP]
> **Auto-Recognition**: Once you link parents to a child, TimeWrit will automatically identify siblings and display them together on the family tree view.
### The Dynamic Family Tree
When you view a Person record, TimeWrit generates a 5-generation "Snapshot" tree. This is a node-link diagram that visualizes the connections between individuals.
- **Ancestors**: Displays direct lineages up to Great-Grandparents.
- **Descendants**: Displays lineages down to Grandchildren.
- **Breadth**: Includes spouses and siblings at every tier to provide full genealogical context.
> [!NOTE]
> **Navigation**: Click on any person's node in the family tree to instantly navigate to their profile and refocus the tree on them.
> [!IMPORTANT]
> **Lineage Limits**: To keep the interface responsive, the family tree view is bounded to 5 generations. For massive lineages covering centuries, use the **Knowledge Graph** to explore further connections across the entire project.
